Yeah it is a very interesting interview. As usual though, its a single provider seeing the world through their own lens in some respects (which is understandable). There's a counterpoint to nearly everything Adam says, but frankly, I don't have the energy/will for that as I don't think it gets us any where.
My personal view on Amazon Web Services, is that they are doing a lot of things right, but they've as with other providers, they have made some claims in the past that were a bit dodgy. They seem to be coming out of that now and also engaging a bit more with the security community which are both positive signs.
Ultimately, cloud boils down to buyer beware. They won't care about your security as much as you should, nor will they know your business as well as you should. Smart orgs will figure out how their risk tolerance maps to use of public and private cloud services/tech and go from there. I'm "pro-cloud" in the sense that I feel its use - to some extent or another - is inevitable and that its better for infosec peeps to try, learn and understand the different services rather than burying their head in the sand.
I look forward to seeing how Amazon develop their relationship with the security community to win more hearts and minds.
