Anyone going to SecureCloud 2010 next week
« on: March 12, 2010, 01:46:54 pm »
Hey

If you're going to SecureCloud 2010 in Barcelona next week, lets grab a beer.

I'm pretty excited about this one - it looks to be the first "proper" security conference on cloud.  Hopefully not too much fluff!

I'll be presenting on a new project codenamed Skylab.  If you already a heavy IaaS user, you can stop reading now :).  If not, you might find it helpful.  I'm developing some cloud architectures/configurations for creating simple cloud based test labs using public clouds.  The idea is to be able to quickly stand up an ad-hoc test network, spin up virtual machines on different subnets for testing purposes.  In my case, target practice for pen-testing.  But also, patch testing and the like.  In other words, its about security peeps using the cloud for security related stuff.

On a personal note, this will make a nice change for me, I get a chance to geek out rather than blabb on about the high-level issues :P.

If you're not going, let me know if you have any question for any of the speakers - I don't mind nagging them :)

Cheers
-c

I wish I was going, but travel budgets are tight.

If anyone is going to Infosecurity.be in Brussels on the 24th and 25th of March, let me know so we can meet up for a quality Belgian beer!  8)

Craig,

do you know if any of the content is going to be streamed or recorded for the benefit of people who are unable to attend?

Cheers

And for those of us who can't attend, can you give some details about Skylab?

I plan to post full details when I'm back from the con...but more importantly, I plan to keep developing it on an on-going basis.  I created a discussion group and will have a dedicated info page on the blog.  Hopefully peeps will find it helpful and contribute their own ideas/make it better.

Just got a reply - no recordings unfortunately.  I'll try and do a "home recording" of my presentation a week or so after I get back to give you all a good laugh ;-)

Do let us know how it goes. I've spoken to a few of the people who will be presenting (some of whom are presenting at our event in June) and it we'd be really interested to know how the delegation responds.

Unfortunately I can't make it because we have another event running the same day. Would have loved to have been there.

Hi Craig,

Nice to see you enjoyed the conference, I really liked you home page video on Skylab - I feel like a guru on cloud computing already.....and less of a geek, nowadays at least.

Take care

Martin
