General Discussion / What do Company Directors Think About Cloud Security?
« Last post by Craig Balding on March 14, 2012, 09:28:30 am »
Drazen (@ddrazic) from SecurusGlobal down-under tweeted out a link to an event aimed at Company Directors.  It looks pretty interesting and as he noted, even more so that its taking place :).

The blurb:

Quote
On your board, do you have sufficient and suitably qualified directors who understand the strategic issues relating to technology?
Have you properly mapped and understood your business and legal risks?
New technologies such as cloud computing open up a wide net of possibilities and opportunities for your business. Directors however need to ask some critical questions when developing strategy for IT and overseeing its implementation and management.

What levels of risk assessment need to be carried out?
What insurance do you need?
What legislation protects or does not cover you?
What other policies need to be amended within the wider business to accommodate new technology?
What measures are in place if something goes wrong?
Our panel including a forensics expert, lawyer and director will cover these and other critical aspects of IT governance, taking a detailed look at cloud computing as an example.

If you're in Sydney, looks like it might be a worthwhile event.  If you attend, let us know what you found out :)

When I went to login to my email I was telesigned...looks like you add a phone number and get a pin code everytime you log in to prove its you.  Seems better than a static password

We are hosting a round table lunch in Birmingham later this month and would like to extend an invitation to IT Directors, Managers and CIO's of companies based in the Birmingham and West Midlands area.

The topic of discussion for Information Age’s next roundtable debate will be, " How can organisations ensure that the scalability of cloud computing leads to more effective and efficient IT operations, and not to chaotic and uncontrollable IT sprawl?"

The roundtable will be an opportunity to share your views and hear the insights and experiences of your peers. Topics under discussion will include:

– how cloud computing can be used to free up capital
– whether cloud can help organisations adapt to the consumerisation of IT
– what the use of cloud computing services means for the role of the IT director

The roundtable, sponsored by Star, is free to attend for CIOs, IT directors and IT managers. The discussion will take place under the Chatham House Rule, so nothing you say will be attributed to you or your organisation.

Venue: Bank Restaurant & Bar, 4 Brindley Place, Birmingham B1 2JB
Time: 12.30pm
Date: Tuesday 29th November

If you are interested in attending, please email me and I will confirm your place and contact you with further information.

Many thanks
